Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of Cogneez (cogneez.co.za and the installed app). By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please don’t use Cogneez.

What Cogneez is — and isn’t

Cogneez is an educational resource for exam preparation. Content is written and reviewed with care and cited to published guidelines, but it is not medical advice and not a clinical decision-making tool. Nothing in Cogneez replaces your own clinical judgement, your seniors, or the current local guidelines and protocols that govern patient care where you work. Never make patient-care decisions on the strength of revision material.

Your account

You must provide accurate information, keep your credentials private, and be 18 or older. You are responsible for activity on your account. One account per person; an account is for your personal study and may not be shared or resold.

Free access, trials and subscriptions

Reading core content is free. Premium features (full question bank, full-resolution figures, the revision engine) are part of paid plans. During launch periods we may grant free trial access; trials are a courtesy, may be extended or ended at our discretion, and carry no obligation to buy. When paid subscriptions are active they are billed through Stripe, renew until cancelled, and can be cancelled any time from your account page (access continues to the end of the paid period). Where required by South African consumer law, you may have additional cancellation rights.

Content and intellectual property

All content — text, questions, explanations, figures and infographics — belongs to Cogneez or its licensors. You may use it for your personal study. You may not scrape, bulk-download, republish, resell or use it to train machine-learning systems without our written permission. Sharing individual figures using the app’s built-in share feature is welcome.

Acceptable use

Don’t attempt to break, probe or overload the service; don’t try to access other users’ data; don’t harvest answers or content by automated means; don’t use the service unlawfully. We may suspend or terminate accounts that do.

Availability and changes

We aim for high availability but the service is provided “as is”, without warranties of uninterrupted access. Features may change as the product evolves. We may update these terms; material changes will be flagged in the app, and continued use after a change means acceptance.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cogneez is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Personal information is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
